Dana is the Owner and Therapist for Streams of Mercy Counseling, LLC. Born and raised in St. Louis, Dana graduated from Affton High School and moved to Cape Girardeau to attend SEMO where she earned a BS degree in Psychology. She later attended SIU in Carbondale, Illinois and obtained a Master's degree in Social Work.
After some experience in community mental health, Dana spent nearly 15 years in hospital-based medical social work specializing in Palliative Care. She opened a counseling clinic through the hospital and provided counseling to chronically and terminally ill patients as well as their caregivers and family members. She treated anxiety and depression that resulted from illness and chronic pain and incorporated mindfulness and sometimes brief yoga practices into her treatment plans.
After spending 30 years in Cape Girardeau, Dana is excited to now be back in The Lou. Since late 2019 she has been providing counseling in area nursing homes, continuing to practice her specialty of meeting older adults where issues of aging and sometimes medical needs affect emotions and therefore affect your quality of life. When Dana isn't out healing the world one person at a time, you can find her in local coffee shops - be sure to ask where the best coffee in St. Louis is! A blog of coffee shop reviews may be coming soon!
